rabbit medical care and hospitalisation to an advanced, complete, and up-to-date level.

A professional approach to rabbit emergencies, anaesthesia, analgesia, nursing, x-rays
as well as “the rabbit friendly clinic” is presented through lectures, practical sessions and
lots of take-home tips and tricks.

KURSUSINDHOLD

• Emergency patient handling, including triage, stabilisation and CPR protocols

• Modern rabbit anaesthesia – more than just medication! The important impact
of husbandry, diet, enclosure, and behaviour affecting anaesthesia. A brief recap
of anatomy and physiology

• Airway management practical. Hands on teaching how to intubate a rabbit
using a visualisation method

• Nursing the hospitalised rabbit – keeping it “hoppy”. Optimal handling methods,
IVFT, blood sampling sites, feeding including syringe feeding, temperature
control, alternative treatments, medication administration tips and cleaning
methods

• Analgesia – presenting a selection of options including combinations, constant
rate infusions and some less traditional techniques

• X-rays – common and useful positioning, including dental imaging and
interpretation

• Common conditions and infectious diseases. Treatment protocols for GI stasis,
urinary issues, pododermatitis, arthritis and head tilt

• The rabbit friendly clinic – Making your protocols more rabbit friendly. Waiting
room, consult and kennel set ups, rabbit specific forms, equipment, and
information about the RWAF Vet Scheme
