Spotting the “big five” is familiar to those going on a safari, and during this two-day course we focus intensely on five top topics within the challenging field of feline problem behaviour. We aim to increase your theoretical understanding of feline emotional health and apply it practically into your feline veterinary clinic context.

Dr. Sarah Heath, BVSc DipECAWBM(BM)CCAB FRCVS RCVS EBVS European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine. Dr Sarah Heath has in her referral clinic specialised in the interplay between emotional and physical illness in dogs and cats during nearly 30 years.

KURSUSINDHOLD
Building on a foundation of understanding feline emotions and their influence on physical health and behavioural change, the course will explore the impact of the home and veterinary clinic environments on feline emotional health. The relevance of behavioural medicine to feline practice will be explored and some of the most common behavioural problems in feline patients will be discussed with practical tips being offered on how to investigate, manage, and treat them.

“BIG FIVE” topics:

1. Emotional motivations – their role in normal feline behaviour and clinical behavioural medicine
2. Physical and social environment impact on feline emotional health. At home and in the veterinary clinic
3. The interplay between emotional and physical health of the cat and treatment of feline behavioural cases
5. A practical managing approach to some of the most common behavioural problems in feline patients
